PLEASE NOTE: The Studio uses the Zoom platform. Please make sure your email and cell number are updated in your student portal on my website so that you will receive your link without delay.
1) Try to limit how many other devices are being used during the lesson time
2) Try to eliminate background noise
3) Have the camera facing all the keys and the student's face if possible
4) The student should be ready with all books, materials and PENCIL
5) Try to be near your router and always work on the newest device possible
6) Make sure to check the box in Zoom settings that says “Enable Original Sound”
SNOW DAY PROCEDURES
- The studio DOES NOT CLOSE just because school closes. Often the districts need to make decisions very early in the morning and by the time the afternoon comes, roads are clear.
- I will be sure to contact you via email, Facebook, Instagram and there will be a notification on my website IF we are closed and transitioning to Zoom lessons.
- If there is an early dismissal and your child normally comes that day off the bus, DO NOT SEND THEM ON THE BUS. We teach students all day so lessons cannot be moved up.
- In most all cases, we do offer Zoom lessons if the studio needs to close. A link will be sent to the email you registered with on my website. Please log in to your portal to review the email you have on file and update it if necessary.
- Please confirm that you received your link. If we close in the morning and do not hear from you by 12:00 Noon we will assume you do NOT want a Zoom lesson that day and you will be marked absent and we will issue you a makeup credit. If we make a decision to close later in the day we will need to hear from you by 3:00PM.
- Please note that group class members will have lessons in 20 minute increments and will be encouraged to practice after their lesson as they do in class.
- Please be aware that lesson times might be moved around somewhat as it takes more time to teach on Zoom than it does at the studio.
- Please have your child ready to go with all books, pencils and materials ON TIME. Set up the camera so that we can see the full keyboard. Side angles are preferred.

ANNUAL PIANO RECITAL
The Recital will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Chapel at the Mount Academy in Esopus. Learning to perform is an integral part of learning an instrument. All students are encouraged to participate, however, it is not mandatory. The recital is free and open to the public.
SUMMER PIANO SESSION
The Peterson Studio offers a six week session throughout the summer. A minimum of two lessons per summer is required for continuity in practice and to hold open your spot for Fall. Schedules are posted in the Spring. Group class is 1 hour and Private Class is 1/2 hour.

MUSIC APPRECIATION GROUP CLASS
This one hour class explores all aspects of music, including rhythm, note reading, ear training, keyboard harmony, sight singing, history, composition and ensemble playing in a relaxed, game-based group setting. Perfect for the home-schooled student who has flexibility in their schedule and a desire to enhance special-area content.
WUNDERKEYS PRESCHOOL PIANO PROGRAM
The Peterson Studio proudly offers the WunderKeys Piano for Preschool program. WunderKeys was developed to provide one-on-one piano lessons to children ages 3-4, and combines beginning piano skills with a foundation in math; creating connections that facilitate mathematical understanding in the future and a love of the arts! Please call the studio to sign up!
THE NATIONAL GUILD OF PIANO TEACHERS ANNUAL AUDITIONS
The Piano Guild is a division of the American College of Musicians, founded in 1929. Their goal is to encourage and establish goals for students studying piano. These goals give students direction and provide a measurement of progress. Students prepare a pre-determined number of solo pieces with corresponding technical elements and perform them for a Guild-appointed judge who evaluates their performance. Upon successful completion of the audition, a report card is provided for each student along with a pin designating their level and category. The 2024 Piano Guild will be held at the Lutheran Redeemer Church in New Paltz - dates/times TBA.
